Help & Resources: Gambling Losses, Scams and Stuck Payments

Updated October 2026

If you have lost money to an app

  1. Your wallet or bank: contact JazzCash, Easypaisa or your bank only through the helpline or support option inside their official app. Report the receiving account numbers and transaction IDs.
  2. Cybercrime complaint: file a complaint with Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) through its official website or office. Bring screenshots, transaction IDs and the app or website address.
  3. Report the app or website to PTA: use PTA’s official complaint portal at complaint.pta.gov.pk to report unlawful online content.

Beware of recovery scams. Anyone who contacts you on WhatsApp, Telegram or social media offering to get your money back for a fee is very likely another scammer. Government agencies do not charge fees to process complaints.

If gambling is affecting you

Signs to watch for: chasing losses, borrowing to play, hiding spending from family, feeling anxious when you’re not playing, or playing late into the night.

  • Talk to someone you trust: a family member, friend or religious scholar.
  • See a doctor, psychologist or psychiatrist. Gambling problems are treatable.
  • Uninstall gambling apps and ask your wallet provider whether you can set transaction limits.
  • Free international self-help tools are available from organisations such as GamCare and Gamblers Anonymous.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact local emergency services (Rescue 1122 or 15) or go to the nearest hospital right away.
